Rescue Kitties saying Good Bye

It has been another great week at the Dancing Goat Farm even though the temperature has been very hot all the animals on the farm are doing well. This week we said good bye to three of the rescue cats that we have been fostering for a little over two months. At the farm besides chickens, quails, goats, dogs, cats and horses we also foster rescued cats from the local www.nationalhumane.com National Humane Society. We foster the special cats that need extra time to become socialized and more used to being around people. We keep the rescue cats in the barn right by the goats milking room so they are right in the middle of the action and get a lot of attention from everyone coming in and out of the barn. When the rescue cats finally calm down and start to like people and other animals we know it is time for them to go back to the shelter so they can be adopted. Of course it is a little sad to say goodbye but we all know that we have helped them toward a better life. Anyways within a few days there is always a new group of cats that need our help again and we are all more than happy to help them the same way. Well I will be at the farm all weekend so check back soon with the City Boy on the Farm for more stories, information and pictures. Also visit www.cityboyonthefarm.com

Getting out of the Rain

Saturday morning it was raining on and off but at one point it started to rain so hard that I had to run into the barn. As I entered the barn I saw three goats eating while another goat just watched me wondering what I was doing. The barn is the main building that houses the goats and the goats milking parlor. In the barn there are young and adult goats housed in several different stales. I visited with the younger goats as well as the rescue cats that live in the barn to see how everyone is doing. After about twenty minutes the skies cleared and I went back to feeding and cleaning the chickens and quails but I was glad it started to rain because it gave me the chance to visit with the goats and cats. Well it is the start of another week and I will be back again on Tuesday so check back soon with the City Boy on the Farm.

Special Snacks for a Special Morning

Every morning when I come to the Dancing Goat Farm I clean, feed and gather the chicken and quail eggs. Some days there are older vegetables, fruit and bread that have been donated to the farm and these items are made into a special snack for the chickens. On these days after I am finished with my work I start to prepare the donated items and as soon as I begin all the chickens start to chatter very loudly in anticipation. While preparing the special snacks the chickens watch my every move patiently waiting for their turn at being served. As I go from cage to cage to serve the snacks I am greeted with loud crows, fancy dances and fluttering wings the whole farm comes alive with excitement the donated snacks really do make it a special morning. Well I will be back at the farm tomorrow so check back soon with the City Boy on the Farm.

In the barn I noticed Motley perched on one of the stalls so I took a minute to say hello.
