Another Rescue joins the Farm

Well it is the end to another weekend and this one was very hot but all the animals on the farm are doing well despite the heat. Besides my usual work of cleaning, feeding and egg gathering I was able to finish a few projects as well as start a few more. On the farm there are chickens, quails, goats, rabbits, cats, dogs and two horses. The one thing about Pam the owner of the farm is that she has a big heart I know this first hand because she helped save my rooster Bing by giving him a home when he needed it the most. If there is a animal that needs help Pam is always happy to help in anyway she can even if that means allowing a new animal to join the farm. Well when I came in on Saturday there was a new rescue that had joined the farm overnight it was a few day old baby rabbit. When I saw Pam that morning you could tell she was excited about helping the abandon baby bunny because she had set him up in a nice cage so he could start living the good life. Every time I come to the farm I think about how lucky Bing and I are to have found Pam and how lucky I am to be able to work with such a wonderful group of people who love animals as much as I do. I will be back again on Tuesday so check back soon with the City Boy on the Farm for more stories, pictures and information.

The Chicks are Growing Up

It has been another wonderful and productive week at the Dancing Goat Farm. This week besides taking care of all the chickens and quails I was able to put new roofs on several of the larger chicken coops. This project was important to me because the new roofs now offer the chickens more shade and better protection from the elements. Also this week Pam and I started to move and introduce the larger and older chicks that were born this spring into their new flocks. There are still another fifty chicks at different stages of their development that we are raising on the farm and I look forward to also watching them grow up. Helping raise the chicks this spring has been a great experience for me. The pictures is of me visiting with one of the older naked neck turkeys. Spending time with Chico

Well it was another great weekend at the Dancing Goat Farm. All the chickens, quails and goats seemed very happy there was a very peaceful feeling on the farm. After I did all of the usual cleaning, feeding and egg gathering I visited with the goats as well as my special friend Chico. Chico is a two year old Fancy Rooster that Pam the owner of the farm held onto for a year until the day came when Chico was supposed to go home but his owners told Pam they decided they didn't want Chico and she could do whatever she wanted with him. Well Pam's heart is so big that once she got the news about Chico she decided to let the farm be his forever home without any hesitation. It is hard not to feel bad for Chico being left behind for a year and then being left behind forever but he is better off here at the farm with several wives and all his friends. I always make sure that I spend quality time with Chico whenever I am at the farm and I always tell him how special he is and let him know he will always have a home. Sneaking a Snack

It is the end to another week at the Dancing Goat Farm and all the animals are doing well. I did all my usual work cleaning, feeding and gathering the eggs as well as finishing up a few projects. When I am feeding the chickens I go from cage to cage and always take the time to visit with the chickens. While I am visiting with the chickens I am also making sure everyone is doing well and feeling healthy. Yesterday when I went into the Coronation Sussex's cage I set down the feed scoops so I could clean the nesting box. As I started cleaning the nesting box and replacing the hay I noticed out of the corner of my eye that two of the Coronation hens were sneaking a snack out of the feed scoops. I stood there for a few minutes and let the ladies enjoy their special snack and when they were done I finished my work and went on with my day, Well it is the beginning to another weekend at the farm so check back soon with the City Boy on the Farm to see how we all are doing.
